The Hoops Inn has hosted shooting parties for many years with North Devon being recognized as a major UK game bird shooting county. Noted for Pheasant and Partridge shoots, along with Snipe, Woodcock, Duck and Geese, the area also has specialized stalker organizing Deer Hunting.
Whilst The Hoops Inn, does not involve itself directly in organizing or managing shoots, we do welcome all Shooters and Shoot Parties and we have done so far since the 1950s. We are conveniently centered for the majority of North Devon Shoot Venues, we are easy to locate on the A39, between Bideford and Clovelly, with a large (50+) secure car park.
The Hoops Inn is renowned for its Food, has a prestigious AA Rosette for its Restaurant Menu and a good local following for its excellent Bar Food. Local Real Ales, a varied Wine list and a good offering of Vintage Ports, completes a rounded package. We have 2 separate Private Dining Areas, the first will accommodate up to 10 persons and second up to 18 persons, both offer superb service and ambience.
The Hoops Inn can also offer Shoot Lunches tailored in terms of quality and price to our customers exacting requirements.
"My husband and I recently stayed at the Hoops for two nights. I wish we could have stayed longer !
We stayed in room number 2. It is a suite with a four poster bed and a jacuzzi, tv, settee, coffee making facilities, it's just beautiful. So relaxing, clean, warm and cozy. Wonderful for a romantic couple of nights away!
I have never, ever slept in such a comfy bed! It was the most amazing night's sleep ever!
The food is wonderful. the staff are soooo friendly and welcoming, chatty and helpful. I cannot fault this inn.
You can walk through the car park onto a coastal path, with beautiful views . We walked to a picturesque village called Bucks Mills. It was very pretty, tough going at times but mostly because it was wet and muddy.
We drove the next day to clovelly, a couple of miles away. you have to pay to go into the village - £6.50 per adult - but it worth it. Again it is quite hard going, steep with cobbled stones but very pretty.
I would recommend a visit to the hoops... it's just perfect !" Nov 2012
